nUnlike a transponder, the AIS9000 Marine AIS Receiver only receives AIS data from nearby vessels. It does not transmit your ship’s position. This makes it perfect for:

❓ Can this receiver be upgraded to a transponder?
nNo. The AIS9000 Receiver is a dedicated receive-only unit. If you need to transmit, please consider our AIS9000 Transponder model.

❓ Does it require an MMSI number?
nNo transmission means no MMSI is required for operation. However, you can configure an MMSI for internal logging if desired.

n

❓ Can I connect it to my existing chart plotter?
nYes. The NMEA0183 output (RS422/RS232) works with most marine plotters (Furuno, Raymarine, Garmin, Lowrance).

n

❓ Is a VHF antenna included?
nVHF antenna not included, but we recommend a standard marine VHF antenna with BNC connector. GPS antenna is provided.
